Cultural Links is a program which traces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families through consultation and research to assist in meeting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and young people’s cultural needs in Out-of- Home-Care.

Reconciliation Action Plan Preparation and Implementation

Our highly trained consultants are experienced and knowledgeable and can assist businesses and organisations to develop and implement Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs). In order to do this, our staff can support the RAPs development through reflecting, innovating, stretching and elevating to build authentic and practical actions towards working to build respectful relationships and creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It is fundamental to ensure that cultural needs are identified and supported throughout employment and organisations are committed to providing a workplace where culture is nurtured for each individual and all staff have the opportunity to practice their culture in an environment free from discrimination.

Cultural Learning Journey Training

Cultural Learning Journey training provides organisations and participants with the opportunity to learn about and further develop their knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the diversities and Aboriginal Australia both historically and contemporary. All stages of the Cultural Learning Journey Training address the necessity for organisations and individuals to provide more respectful, receptive and culturally safe services primarily through knowledge and reflection.

Cultural Learning Journey Options

  • Cultural Learning Journey Awareness – provides an introduction to learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Aboriginal Australia by providing factual information about Aboriginal history and basic strategies for communication and relationship development.
  • Cultural Learning Journey Expansion – is an extension of the day one package by providing further learning materials and activities which will assist participants in having a more in-depth understanding of the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities.
  • Cultural Learning Journey Immersion – the cultural immersion provides participants with an in-depth understanding both in the class room and within the community to broaden knowledge and embrace Aboriginal cultural and history through being immersed within community.
  •  Two Day On Country Training Package- in partnership with Dharwra Tours, Curijo have developed a unique workshop that allows participants to experience Ngunawal country with a Traditional Custodian as well as learn about historical and contemporary histories and cultures. Our culturally appropriate and informative tour challenges perceptions in a safe environment with Indigenous peoples. It allows participants to be immersed in both formal and on country learning to develop knowledge of peoples, cultures and histories. It provides opportunities to develop practical strategies to move forward through understanding of cultural safety and reflective practice in the spirit of Reconciliation.

Family Group Conferencing

Family Group Conferencing (FGC) is an innovative and strengths  based form of alternate dispute resolution where families are provided with the opportunity to come together in a supported and structured environment to take part in decision making for their family and to plan to move forward to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their children.

Foster and Kinship Care Assessments & Reviews

Foster and Kinship Care Assessments and Annual Reviews are key to determining the suitability of people providing care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous children and young people who are unable to live with their parents.  Curijo staff are highly skilled and experienced to provide high quality and comprehensive Foster Care and Kinship Care Assessments and Annual Reviews.

Parenting Capacity Assessments are conducted by our highly skilled staff to determining the capability of parents where there are children protection concerns.  It provides a comprehensive assessment of the parents’ ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the child and/or young person.
